As I promised, here is Nyran's story, from beginning to end...
Nyran Draygona
The Tale of the Orc Huntress Nyran
Jacobas Draygona was a Temple Knight of San d'Oria, and known for his skill with a blade. He would often visit the worship place of Altana, and it was there he met an aspiring priestess. Ambrosia was a mysterious woman, who was rumored to have been from Tavnazia. That aside, it was unquestioned that she was a strong mage, known for her specialty in white magic. The two were wed with the Goddess of the Dawn's blessing, and made a home for themselves in Northern San d'Oria.
Early on an Iceday in the dead of winter, Nyran was born. A child of Altana, Nyran learned of the Goddess of the Dawn, and how Vana'diel came to be. The priests taught her the history of Vana'diel, including San d'Oria's story. Jacobas taught his daughter how to use a sword, and the importance of defending her home and her people. Ambrosia raised Nyran in the art of red magic, teaching her to control her spells. When reaching an old enough age, Ambrosia began telling Nyran of a place called Tavnazia, and what it was like there. It was during this time, that her parents began to learn of the relationship between San d'Oria and Tavnazia. When hearing how Tavnazia was betrayed, Jacobas confronted the royal family.
Jacobas disappeared after it was revealed to the Royal Family that Ambrosia was indeed Tavnazian. With her husband's disappearance, and fearful of what danger her family might be in, Ambrosia took Nyran to Selbina, where they boarded a ship to Mhaura.
The two lived in Windurst for almost a year before a priest from San d'Oria found them, and warned Ambrosia that a Royal Knight was coming to ensure that Tavnazia never learned of who betrayed them during the Great War. Deciding to make one last journey, Ambrosia told her daughter that she was going on the ultimate pilgrimage to pray to Altana in person. When Nyran tried to insist that she go with her mother, she was told that she was to return home with the priest, and live under his care until she were old enough to be on her own. Reluctantly, Nyran promised her mother she would abide. With this, Ambrosia handed the priest a small leather-bound book, which Nyran had seen her parents write in many times over the years. Kneeling down to bid her farewell, Ambrosia told Nyran something that has stuck with her all these years:
"Follow your heart, for that is how Altana guides us without words. Vana'diel needs protection from Promathia's wraith, and from itself. Know who you are, and know where you came from, Bringer of Light and Hope."
